Adult Clinical Psychiatry

In order to appropriately diagnose a psychiatric or psychological problem, I offer a comprehensive psychiatric consultation. I take special care in gathering the right information to determine the most likely diagnosis and most effective treatment. I consider a variety of aspects of one's situation when determining the best treatment plan which may include information about health, illness, and past treatment (medical and psychiatric); family health; information about child development; academic/work performance and friends; family relationships; a thorough psychiatric interview; and if necessary, laboratory studies .

**Please note the first appointment is a consultation only, and does not necessarily establish a doctor-patient relationship.  I evaluate patients ages 18 to 70.  

As a psychotherapist, I strive to offer caring and empathetic treatment. I have a preference towards offering long term therapy. The theories of psychotherapy that have had the most influence on my practice style include psychodynamic, existential and interpersonal psychotherapy. I often recommend psychotherapy in combination with medication management.

I specialize in the medication treatment of mood and anxiety disorders.  I encourage my patients to carefully consider the potential risks of psychiatric medications prior to starting treatment. I also help clients decide when to use psychotropic medications in more complex situations such as during pregnancy, when multiple psychotropic agents are needed or adverse side effect management

I accept Anthem (California Blue Cross) and Blue Shield of California and private pay.
